Richard Sterling, MD, FACS, FAAOA
Dr. Richard Sterling graduated Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia with honors in 1988. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1993 after being named Chief Resident in 1993. He became a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery after successfully completing his written and oral board exams. Dr. Sterling then became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 1999. He then passed both his written and oral exam and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. He has practiced in Orangeburg , SC. since he graduated his residency in 1993.
Dr. Sterling sees adult and pediatric patients for all diseases of the ears, nose and throat, head and neck with a particular emphasis on sinus, allergy and other diseases of the respiratory tract. Skin cancer removal and reconstruction, sleep apnea, removal of head and neck masses and asthma care are also a large part of his practice.
Dr. Sterling is a published author in peer reviewed journals in both allergic rhinitis and asthma. Dr. Sterling is also the Principal Investigator for Carolina Research, INC. and has participated in well over 150 clinical medical trials in the areas of sinusitis, allergic rhinitis and asthma. After successfully completing more than 2000 traditional and advanced endoscopic sinus surgeries, Dr. Sterling has become known for In Office Balloon Sinuplasty, a treatment option for patients to have their sinus disease corrected in an office setting with minimal down time and greatly reduced cost.
On a personal note, Dr. Sterling and his family enjoy traveling, water sports and playing with Hans, their German Shepherd.
